Controls Engineer - Tonawanda

Responsibilities:
- Planning, design, programming, testing, troubleshooting and
launch of automated manufacturing control systems
-
Research, development, selection and implementation of new
manufacturing controls systems employing Programmable Logic
Controllers (PLC), Factory Information Systems, Controls
Networks, Advanced Communication Tools, PC-Based Controls,
Controls Hardware/Software, etc.

Integration of traditional controls technology with advanced
controls technology
-
Providing diverse controls engineering support for new
equipment installations, retrofits, modifications and
operational improvements
-
Coordination and management of engineering projects,
including oversight of project vendors and contractors
-
Development of technical specifications for control systems,
and selection of appropriate technology
-
Developing and implementing action plans to troubleshoot
equipment and controls problems in an efficient and
responsive manner

Coordination and oversight of technical resources, including
Skilled Trades personnel, Junior Engineers and external
contractors/consultants
-
Providing support for all process improvement and throughput
improvement initiatives in the plant
-
Collaborating effectively with all Engineering disciplines
and internal teams to deliver projects successfully

Requirements:

5-15 years of experience in the manufacturing sector, in a
similar role
-
Degree in Electrical/Controls Engineering (or equivalent
program)
-
Experience and proficiency with Siemens PLC hardware and
software is preferred
-
Experience with controls networks and PC-based control
systems is preferred
-
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
-
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
-
Systematic approach to problem solving
-
Ability to work both independently and with a team
