Designing Engineer - Advanced Technology Work
Job Description:

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsible for the development and implementation of
advanced engineering design solutions within the vehicle
Body Enterprise (Body Structure, Body Closures, and Body
Exterior).

Actively research new technology trends within the area of
body engineering in order to generate new ideas and
concepts that can be explored for possible implementation
in future design
-
Create, refine, and validate advanced concepts through
design, analysis, and physical testing

Develop engineering design solutions in-house and/ or in
collaboration with suppliers and academia
-
Evaluate design alternatives for performance, cost, and
mass efficiency
-
Work/ collaborate with other engineering disciplines to
facilitate concept development
-
Communicate findings through advanced technology gate
review process

Required Skills/Experience:
-
Bachelors of
Engineering Degree (Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace)
-
Previous product
design experience specifically in the area of Body Engineering –
understanding of technical standards, part specifications, and critical part
characteristics

Proficient with
Unigraphics (UG) design software
-
Demonstrated
experience in problem investigation and applying sound technical judgment to
develop novel design solutions
-
Ability to work both
independently and in team settings with minimal supervision
-
Exceptional project
management skills i.e. the ability to develop and execute a complex,
multi-disciplinary project plan
-
High level of
interpersonal, communication, and presentation skill
Preferred
Qualifications:
-
Previous design
experience specific to electro-mechanical devices and/or the use of carbon
fiber/ composite materials
-
Previous Computer
Aided Engineering (CAE) experience – specifically the development and
subsequent analysis of structural finite element models
-
Previous R&D
experience within the automotive and/ or aerospace industries
-
Design for Six Sigma
(DFSS) certification
Required
Education/Training/Certifications/Licenses

Bachelor of
Science in Engineering
